Materials for the Recipe
  • 1 cup Ekin red lentils
  • 1/2 cup Ekin baldo rice
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bunch of green onions, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 8 cups water or broth
How is it done?
  1. Buy Ekin lentils and Ekin rice for your pot.
  2. Add 8 cups of water or broth on top and boil until the rice is soft.
  3. Make sure it doesn’t turn into a paste.
  4. Sauté chopped onions in olive oil and butter in another pan, add tomato paste when onions change color.
  5. When it starts to boil, add the spices and then pour the red lentils and rice on top.
  6. Boil well and serve with fresh onions on top.
